Boulder Aikikai was established by Hiroshi Ikeda in 1980 for the study of the Japanese martial art of Aikido.
The dojo is affiliated with the Aikido World Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, through the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba organization.
Boulder Aikikai is a federal non-profit educational organization and welcomes all students who can safely participate in our programs. All of our classes are open for free observation.
Boulder Aikikai offers ongoing open enrollment for beginning students with no previous aikido experience during our weeknight 6pm classes (Monday through Friday). There is no need to preregister and you may start on any date. Beginning students will be welcome to attend any combination of weeknight 6pm classes and the Sunday 11:30am class.

NEW: Summer Camp in the Rockies 2010 Group Photo
As we celebrate our 30th Annual Aikido Summer Camp in the Rockies, we reflect upon the many bonds of friendship that have taken root and grown strong over the years. Aikidoists of all styles, from all walks of life, and from many corners of the globe have trained together on our mats, manifesting on a small order O’Sensei’s dream.
Note: Online registration for the full and non-training plans is now closed, but we are still accepting paper registrations for those plans. (Online registration for independent plans is still open.)
The schedule for the dojo during Summer Camp will be as follows:
- Mon, July 26 - Fri, July 30: 6-7:30pm class only
- Sat, Aug 1st: No classes
- Sun, Aug 2nd: No classes
